Here's to Michael Jackson for making us all feel like we were dance supper stars.

Guess none of us should be surprised by the drama which is now unfolding from Michael Jackson's death. Can't believe that the ex-wife Debbie Rowe now wants the children after "selling" them for $8 million and having very little contact with them for twelve years.
The children have grown up around the Jackson family members, so not sure why she would want to uproot them for the people they are already comfortable with, especially during this difficult time. Guess the… Continue

Ah Fuh ah Wee was the winning chant last night, as Lord Karessah ensured that the Calypso crown would leave Roseau for 2009. Lord Karessah cut the umbilical cord as he walked away with the 2009 Calypso King Monarch. In what seemed quite prophetic, one of his winning songs was "Calypso too Patriotic". As he exited the stage, taking calypso and Dominica with him, he announced that "calypso will leave Roseau tonight". And indeed it did.
This is Karessah's first ever Calypso Monarch t… Continue

The show may be called Stardom King of the Tent, but Tarina Simon showed the guys that "the woman is boss"..Lol, as she walked away with the Stardom King (Queen) of the Tent title. The competition was not a clean sweep though, as other top performers like the Karessah, Observer, Scrunter, and new comer to Stardom Tent, Sye, came out swinging.
This is Tarina's second win for the season, as she was also recently named Woman Calypso Queen for 2009. Her eyes are now firmly fixed on the cove… Continue

That is certainly going to be the GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!! Carnival 2009 is missing it's core. Don't mean to bash the other calypsonians, but the calypso shows seem to be a bit un-balanced this.
With the Dice and Daddy Chess out, they way seems paved for others like Tarina, Srcunter and Karessa to prove themselves!
Chester made us proud, i always knew that he could do it. Take a page from that Hunter!! I'll never forget that night in the park when Chester made his debut… Continue
After an electrifying performance last night, Daddy Chess walked away as the undefeated Soca Monarch King of Dominica for 2009. From all reports (and the video clips) the performers gave their best efforts, but Daddy Chess would not be dethroned. He reined supreme and at the end of the night he retained his title for the second year in a row.
The other top contenders of the evening were, Clint Henderson (1st runner up), Mr. Benji (2nd runner up) and Hunter (3r… Continue
Ten to contend for the 2009 Calypso Crown. The judges’ decision was final on Saturday night when ten contenders were named to compete in the 2009 Calypso Finals on Saturday February 21st. So who is your King?
Sye,
Manhimself,
Hunter,
Scrunter,
Picky,
Karessa,
Tarina,
Lady Star,
Observer,
Sugar S.
According the to Calypso Association rules, this would have been King Dice's final opportunity to announce his intention to defend his crown. It is therefore safe to say th… Continue
Looks like we have just broken our first record. The video “Doh Play with de Pastor Rod” just topped over one hundred views in one day. This means that at least four people watched the video every minute over the last 24 hours. Wow! How exciting…Guess I was clearly wrong for assuming that calypso 2009 would be a wash without Daddy Chess and King Dice. This year’s calypsonians have shown us that the show will go on, and that calypso is alive and well in Dominica.
The next… Continue
