Ah Fuh ah Wee was the winning chant last night, as Lord Karessah ensured that the Calypso crown would leave Roseau for 2009. Lord Karessah cut the umbilical cord as he walked away with the 2009 Calypso King Monarch. In what seemed quite prophetic, one of his winning songs was "Calypso too Patriotic". As he exited the stage, taking calypso and Dominica with him, he announced that "calypso will leave Roseau tonight". And indeed it did.

This is Karessah's first ever Calypso Monarch title, and most agree that it is well deserved. The king walks away with a cash prize of $20,000, but just as important he walks away knowing that his hard work and dedication through the years have finally paid off handsomely.

The other finalist from the night's event were, Observer 1st runner up, Tarina 2nd runner up, and Scrunter 3rd runner up.

Guess the January 31st blog was correct, and the Chinesse calendar is in fact wrong. This year is not the year of the Ox; it is the year of De Karessah!

Karessah is King is so fitting. For many years, this young man has consistently proven himself with his witty and very entertaining calypsos but has never been able to capture the crown. He finally did it!! The crown has left Roseau and is on its way to Marigot.
