Ten to contend for the 2009 Calypso Crown. The judges’ decision was final on Saturday night when ten contenders were named to compete in the 2009 Calypso Finals on Saturday February 21st. So who is your King?

According the to Calypso Association rules, this would have been King Dice's final opportunity to announce his intention to defend his crown. It is therefore safe to say that despite recent allegations that he has two new songs, written by Pat Aaron, the King will not defend his title in 2009.

Wish, I could hear their songs in full...I like Hunter's song...but I always like Observer....and I have a bias towards his songs, no matter how ridiculous they may sound...(Sine after he sang "Take What You Get," somewhere in the early 2000's-either 2001 or 2002- a song lyric which I agreed with wholesomely- Observer had been tied to my hip every since with an annoying strong cord..He has a good calypso as well this year..and Picky's song is good.....so my choice is really between the three, with Hunter being my King....But really I am tired of the crown joggling between Dice and Hunter for the last 8 years....wish some new would wear the crown.

A song from Dice this year would have been refreshing- his songs are always well-put together and properly delivered....don't know what he is broiling about..read something ridiculous, but refuse to believe that the nonsense I read was his main reason...anyway, he will be miss as well as Daddy Chess..
